Managing Risks
Taking risks is a normal part of a lifestyle that maximises independence. HertsISS workers will support service users’ to have the kind of life and experiences that they want, doing the things that are important to them and enabling them to take risks in a responsible way.
If every day events and activities could involve some hazards or potential harm for the worker and/or the service user, these items are discussed and documented in a risk management plan.
A service user will usually have a risk assessment as part of their referral and introduction to the service, and any agreed risk management plan will be added to their personal support plan.
HertsISS provides its workers with training, advice and ongoing support to enable them to identify hazards and assess risks and to take actions to reduce or remove the risks when appropriate and to record discussions and decisions about this.
